Glass blowing classes, with some exception, can be scheduled any day of the week during the cooler months starting October and continuing through May of the following year.
We start at 9:00am and finish around 4:00pm with a maximum of three students per day.
Classes are scheduled according to incoming request and availability.
If there is an opening for your request, it's yours.
Tuition is $150.00 a day per person and includes everything you need.
Glass blowing 1 or previous experience is required before going into glass blowing 2.
You may schedule one day at a time or do multiple days depending on your goals.
Clothing in the studio must be as follows:
COTTON clothing is best, not to lose, soft sole shoes and no open toes.
If you have a favorite pair of medium shade sun glasses,
feel free to bring them. Clip-on's work great with prescription glasses.
Age is not a main issue however, students should be at least 4' 6"
tall in order to reach the equipment. Also a fair amount of strength,
good mobility and coordination is needed.

Glass Blowing 1

Includes:  Introduction to tools, equipment, terminology and safety.
Beginners learn to gather the molten glass from the furnace, add color, control and shape it.
This day begins with the introduction of tools, equipment and a short demonstration.
Followed by a series of exercises designed to familiarize you with the different
work stations and necessary movements needed to shape the glass.
Next we move into gathering glass from the furnace, proper heating and correct use of the tools.
This method of working glass on the punty [stainless rod] is used to make solid pieces such as
glass eggs, paperweights, slingers, sculptures and to transfer a piece from the blowpipe.
Most students complete three or four pieces the first day depending on number of students.
The glass is placed in the kiln for annealing (slow cooling) until the next day.
Then, it is cold worked (grinded and finished) and ready to go home.
All pieces made in class will be available for pick-up the following day or we will ship them to you.

Glass Blowing 2

Includes: Glass on the blowpipe, shaping, jack line and transfer.
Taking into consideration that you have had prior experience, it is time to work with the blowpipe.
Learning how to gather the glass evenly, proper timing and temperature is extremely important
when you're making blown pieces.  The only way to get the feel of exactly when to shape the glass
is by doing it over and over until your instincts guide you.
This class will provide you with some very good exercises that train you to do just that
and your hands-on instructor will make sure you take some nice pieces home.
All pieces made in class will be available for pick-up the following day.  Or we will ship them to you.
